Jules soon discovers that Welsh passenger John Ruby is hiding contraband, which turns out to be a novel explosive triggered by contact with water. Finding Welsh captured with the explosives, he takes on the ship and offers Jules a chance to defect and share in his bid for world-dominance in the name of science.
