When a microchip is found in baby food at a day care center, young journalist Johanna starts to investigate its origin. Bank manager Marianne realizes she has made a mistake that could cost her her job. A family tries to cope after the father's disappearance eight months earlier. What connects all these people?

Marianne tries to fix her mistake, but there is little she can do. Johanna traces the microchip through dubious methods and discovers it belonged to a Belgian pony that was illegally transported abroad. Sami makes his mother, Anita, angry by applying for his father's death certificate. Insurance investigator Inkeri takes an interest in the disappearance of Erik Korvola.

Marianne asks Hammarén if he had anything to do with her ex-lover's death, and Sini tells her brother what she witnessed the night their father disappeared.
